Hi all,
I'm still just trying to get the hang of this blog thing and how best to use it. I read the links that Rachel gave us to read, but, they were tips for bloggers who would be writing about something that someone else would actually like to read for fun, not just for work. Nevertheless, although it is just work, I thought it might be nice for me to update you all on my work that is "outside" of what the A-team in general is doing. Today I have my earplugs in and am working on writing up a synopsis of the meeting held yesterday by the Ad Hoc Committee on University Undergraduate Curriculum. On Monday, I was working on editing and scrutinizing a list of courses which could be included in the Sustainability Studies Curriculum. Beyond that, I've been coordinating a meeting for a new Visual, Information, and Technical Literacy task force that's been called by Joyce Ogburn from the Library, and Robert. I've also been talking to all of the advisors and others I can find about promoting the Interdisciplinary Studies pilot course, Health Care in America, and doing the administrative round up of reports for last year's ID studies seed grant recipients. So, that's some of what I do in case you were curious. (Hmmmm... how can I turn all of this into part of my job description that I need to write for Heidi.)

Oh, PS, for those of you who have noticed the new yellow earplugs.... I wear them when I need to concentrate, usually on writing or reading. It seems to work really well for me. I hope it doesn't bother you all too much... I'm certainly not trying to be anti-social or block you out. Of course just tap me if you need anything. And, yes, I know I look dorky, but hopefully you'll still want to work with me.

A-Team Tech Meeting
Rachel is helping us understand the functionality of the new tools. I've learned that I can use Google calendar to "overlay" everyone's events, including the Universities, to look at them when I want and when I don't want to. I've also learned that I can use the blogger to keep track of the steps I take or any developments on the projects I'm working on, and I think this will be better than just using the project tracker. Thanks Rachel!

Team Meeting 5/30
Hello again and welcome to another edition of the weekly team meeting. This week's edition was pushed back a day to accommodate some family time for Heidi (well done!).
This week we took the time to go over the final strategic plan we developed for the College. We will be presenting the finalized version to Robert Monday, June 2nd at 1:00pm. Heidi asks that we take a look at the task sheets and if we can think of anything else to add to email her right away.
I will put up an online version of this later today on our task sheet (there will be a new tab), and I can send you Heidi's presentation if you ask for it.
Next week, as promised, will be a demonstration of the powerful tools Google has to offer as well as some other technology beauties to help us be more efficient. Again, I ask that you take a look at what you're doing (or not doing) and think of what might work better for you from a technology standpoint, and I'll try to find solutions for every problem. For example, this week we started using Google Talk. This was a good edition I think to our team, but it's not working quite as it should for everybody. So I have some things that might work better for everyone as far as instant messaging goes.
Feel free to post anything and comment on anything, and keep on being awesome.

Team Meeting 5/23
Hey guys, sorry I didn't get to this before now, I was just SO EXCITED for the long weekend!
Anywho, on Thursday we met as is our custom, to discuss all things Advancement with a healthy scoop of screwing around. In this week's episode, Lorelei and I updated Heidi on our current projects, Beth chose to not discuss her projects as she was meeting with Heidi at length later that day. We then moved into reviewing the Strategic Plan and making further additions and modifications to the plan. We decided that a lot of it could be condensed, and other aspects need to be more fleshed out. Heidi is preparing a third draft for us to look at and discuss. After the final final revisions are made, we will all be presenting the plan to Robert (Beth to coordinate with Jane about a good time to do this within the next week).
Next week's A-Team meeting will be centered around technology we can use to be more efficient, increase productivity, and make it easier for us to quantify our activities. Some things I'll discuss are:
Google Docs
Blogger
RSS feeds
Please take a few moments to think about what you think you need/want as far as technology goes and I can try to find some solutions to your problems. Even if you don't know what you might need, try to find something that is cumbersome to you and I'll try to find something that will help.
